New York Post Office

That's one big building to maintain. No wonder the mail system is broke.

Gotcha...

Finally got the male Cardinal that has been hanging around the house with his mate. Tough bugger to get as he doesn't stay in one place for very long.

Boston Red Sox Pole-to-Pole

Here is the third of my pole-to-pole shots. This one is from Boston with the Red Sox losing to the White Sox this game. Great seats near first base. Shot with the Samsung s5 in panorama mode.

Wrigley Field from Pole-to-Pole

Took in a game from the bleachers at Wrigley Field as part of the Nuveen company picnic. That gave me the opportunity to shoot another pole-to-pole shot with the Samsung s5.

US Cellular Field from Pole-to-Pole

US Cellular Field from pole-to-pole. Taken with the Samsung S5. The pano stitching isn't perfect but this shot gave me the idea to take a pole-to-pole panorama of every ballpark. I will give it a try.

The New Line Up

The line up. Got the D810 yesterday and today was "first light". That camera joins the D7100 and the Sony A7. Three cameras. Three different lens set ups. Not very smart but it works for me. I promise to stop buying cameras at this point. Of course, that promise was made and broken in the past.....

Floating above the Clouds

Beautiful partly cloudy day. On the way to my next destination...who knows where?  That's the Michigan shoreline on the left hand side.

William Penn....from Behind

One more shot from a recent trip to Philadelphia. This time I stayed across from the Philadelphia City Hall but William Penn decided to turn his back to me. How dare he? Oh well, a least I will know the time.

Birding at home

Been trying to pay more attention to our backyard visitors. This is a female Cardinal as we have a pair that has been hanging around the house. I have been trying to get a picture of the more colorful male, but not successful yet. I've learned the Cardinal's distinctive call and they are always catching my ear. I'll get him before the year is out....

Philadelphia Spires

I love these Harry Potter-esque spires found on ornate buildings, normally churches. This is a government building in downtown Philadelphia, across the street from city hall but it could double as a church.

One of the great drives in the US

Just 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas is a 12 mile loop road in the Red Rocks area, very close to Red Rock Casino. What a great drive and even better bike ride, although very tough with the strong winds and steep hills. I have to try that ride some day.

Reflection shot where there isn't one

Reflection shots off of bodies of water are very cool. However, sometimes you don't have any body of water handy. That's ok. Just use the top of your car!!!

Chicago Face Sculpture

Walking on Michigan Avenue at Madison there is a new sculpture of a young African girl's face that has a weird optical illusion as the face is very narrow compared to its height. It is called "Looking Into My Dreams, Awilda". Chicago has really done a great job with Grant Park. Such a beautiful lakefront.

Beautiful sunlit park

This is a beautifully sunlit park right on Michigan Ave next to the Chicago Art Institute. No tourists are in this shot since the park was closed for some reason. So, you could see this area but not enter. A shame. Made for a nice photo however.

You know you are old when....

You know you are old when you remember when the Prudential building was once the tallest building in this shot. My Chicago, how we have grown.

Paris Rooftops

I love this shot from way back in 2006 as I am fascinated with what the views must be from these inner courtyard windows. This building is right across the street from the Eiffel Tower which is how I was able to get a view down a bit to these inner courtyards.

Parisian Art for Sale

A very colorful piece of Parisian art for sale on a bridge leading up to the Louvre. From our trip in 2006.

View of Paris from Eiffel Tower

Staycation shots. Nina is in Paris so I am looking back at our trip from 2006. Nice view from Eiffel Tower. Hope they find her bags.

An excuse to revisit Paris (in pictures)

I am so jealous of my wonderful daughter, Nina, who gets to fly to Paris for a week. We will miss her for the week. However, that event gives me an excuse to go back and look at pictures I took way back in 2006. This was with my Nikon D200. That is like a 12 megapixel camera and these pics were all 8 meg jpegs. I can't tell the difference. Amazing.

Philly Art Museum Campus

Wonderful setting for the Philadelphia Art Museum. Never been inside (yet) but hopefully, one day.
