Looking Up in a Sea of Yellow

I thought we were walking through Morton Arboretum a week late for the peak colors but that was not the case. While we might have missed some of the reds in the Maples, these Sugar Maple trees were in peak bloom.

Chicago Goes all out for the Cubs

Not sure it was like this 11 years ago when the White Sox had their World Series run but you can't deny that the city has gone all out for the Cubs.

Deep Yellow at the Morton Arboretum

Found a wonderful walk at the Morton Arboretum this morning in a deep yellow forest.

New York Traffic Jam

Wonderful sunset makes the colors pop in the buildings behind the mural.

Red Bank, New Jersey and the Navesink Harbor

Red Bank, NJ had some fun elements but overall, I have to say that I see this as a wasted opportunity to improve the town with a river walk or other entertainment along the Navesink River. It has some boating, as you can see, but almost no public access to the river and limited dinning or other entertainment options. I was here for work but excited to see the area and I was let down with decisions made not to use the river, at least along the town of Red Bank. Further down along the river, I hear it is quite nice. Anyway, interesting enough for a shot of the day. Nice older hotel in the area as well with the Molly Pitcher Inn, right along the river. From a town planning standpoint, great opportunity, wasted.

Eckhart in Layers

I love when I can catch a shot in layers. Here is a layer of Eckhart Leaf on Sam's phone with Stephie and then Drew in the background.

Jono and Sam on the back porch

Jono and Sam stopped by a few weeks ago and I got a few shots on the back porch. Looks like Colby wants to live with them. They had a nice engagement party downtown tonight. Glad we got to attend.

Philly Liberty Bell

I can't count how many times I have been to Philadelphia and yet I had never walked over to Constitution Plaza to see the Liberty Bell or Constitution Hall. Unfortunately, the building was closed but you can see through the windows. Always fun to visit history while in town a couple of weeks ago for work.

Green Halloween

It's that time of the year again when all the colors come out. When you look for color, you see it everywhere this time of the year. Hope to get a chance to shoot some in New Jersey, New York, Michigan and around home. We shall see.

Who's afraid of a goat?

This could be the year that the rest of Chicago gets its World Series experience. As Maddon says, "Embrace the Target".

Moon (and Venus) over Philly Airport

The title says it all. Moon over Philly Airport with tiny Venus nearby.

Bear Mountain Ski Hill and LeHigh Valley

Took a morning hike before having to do a presentation at the Bear Mountain Ski Resort in LeHigh Valley Pennsylvania. Not a tough hike but my gym shoes certainly got wet in the morning dew.

Naperville Carillon Tower

I've taken pictures in so many locations around the country as a result of my travel for work so here is one from closer to home. The new hotel under construction in downtown Naperville, Hotel Indigo, gives a nice view of the Naperville Carillon Tower. This development along the river in downtown Naperville will put a capper on a great downtown. One of the nicest places to live in the country is just getting better.

Independence Hall, Philadelphia

I have been traveling to Philly for quite some time now but never got over to the area around Independence Hall. Because of work, I showed up when everything was already closed, but it is always great to see history in person. Next time, I will try to actually get in these buildings and do some tours. The lighting was very flat so I did pop it a bit with more of a painterly feel.

Downtown Pensacola

Meetings in the past month took me to downtown Pensacola, Florida. While I have been in the area before, never been to the downtown area. Lots of these buildings are just a few blocks from the ocean. Hope the area survived Hurricane Matthew in good shape.

Union Square Park View

Great grouping of buildings near Union Square Park in New York. Those rooms must be very long and narrow.

Con Edison Building New York at Night

Walking around downtown New York City at dusk always catches some nice views. This is a shot between some buildings of the beautiful Consolidated Edison building near Madison Square Park.

Creepy Hotel Window View

Views out of hotels give you lots of wonderful sights. Sometimes you get a beautiful golf course view. Sometimes you get a lake or the ocean out there in the distance. Sometimes you get the creepy construction site when you are in a hotel in New York City. This was the view from a hotel last week. No zombies were sighted.

Repeating Patterns

My eye is always attracted to repeating patterns and saw this pattern while walking in downtown Louisville this past weekend. Not a winner in print competition but an interesting shot.

Fourth Street Live! Revisited

Visting Louisville is beginning to be a habit. This is from outside our hotel last night on my 3rd trip this year. This time out not for work but for a wedding for Michael's good friend and our former neighbor, Billy Bass. Great wedding and all the best to Billy and his new wife, Lauren.
