Naperville Red Sunset

Got to see a fine Naperville red sunset a couple of days ago. Didn't need any sliders to pop this color.

Had a blast last night!!!

Caught this wonderful cannon blast from the Chicago Light Artillery Civil War reinactors, as they timed their shot to the beat of the Naperville Municipal Orchestra playing the 1812 Overture. Thanks to Bill Pavlecic for the invite as I wasn't aware of this annual summertime event in downtown Naperville. The blasts were so powerful several car alarms went off after each shot.

Federal Plaza and the Flamingo

Strange sky hanging over the Flamingo in Chicago.

Chicago At Night

Long exposure gets most of the tourists to disappear, as long as they move. These two weren't moving so they look somewhat ghostly.

Troll Standing Tall

I don't want to give away too many troll shots as you should try to make it to the Morton Arboretum to see this wonderful exhibit. But this Troll is standing along I-88 so I guess I am not giving away too much. If you have a kid or a grandkid or you are a kid at heart, check out the Morton Arboretum in Lisle before they go away.

Bergoff's Chicago

I should have stopped in. I haven't had one of their sandwiches in years.

Flamingo at Federal Plaza

Long exposure and wide angle adds to this unusual view of the Calder Flamingo at Chicago's Federal Plaza.

Just Wondering Who'd ya vote for?

The owner of this car (the guy coming around from behind the car) really, really likes Trump. Nashville street scene.

Strange View

I couldn't figure out what I was looking at outside the airplane window on this week's trip to Florida, until I realized that this is part of the Everglades. No roads. Strange water formations. It is actually easier to see in the photograph than the live view I saw out the window. Hard to see vegetation from this high up, but I am sure that there is a lot down there. Alligators too.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow this week

Not your typical rainbow view. I looked for the pot of gold on the ground, but couldn't see any from that high up.

Dash Finish Line

Finally took a look at the finish line pictures from a 3.5 mile road race a bunch of us ran last week in honor of my cousin, Colleen, on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer Research. While looking through the shots I saw this one of me crossing the finish line. It's a nice shot and all but what makes it great isn't my finish but the person all blurry in the background. That's my cousin Mark Davern, who took off ahead of me but surprisingly got passed by this old man not too fat from the finish. I didn't realize that we were caught in the same shot. I might have to have this one framed!!!

White Egret fishing in Naperville

Nice view on my evening bike ride last night. I always think of Egrets as Florida creatures and surprised to find them here in Illinois. But they are here and you can find them in any larger size ponds or small lakes. Here is a fun chart to help ID the different types of large water birds:

Taylor Swift in Chicago

Great time at the Taylor Swift concert with all of the kids and grandkids, except Michael (who is back in Portland). He would have avoided the concert anyway, but a good time was had by all. Thanks for Purva Patel for sharing the box. Taylor put on quite a show.  My little Lumix camera ws pushed to the limit to get this telephoto shot but this one is my favorite of the night.
