Portland Waterfall

A nice little waterfall can be found in the Japanese Garden in the Washington Park area of the hills overlooking downtown Portland. While you can drive here, we took a wonderful hour long hike up the hills to the area.

Space Needle Lucky Shot

How do you take a photo of a famous landmark and make it special? You get extremely lucky!!! Some airplane vapor trails happen to bisect the Space Needle, just as I was being driven through this intersection. I ask my workmate to slow down and I got the shot. From his angle it was just the Space Needle. But from my seat, it was just perfect.

Its Portland so its Craft Beer

What a discovery. I like craft beer. Well, not all craft beers. But a lot of them. Fun times with Michael Jr in Portland.

Giant Sequoia

My first Giant Sequoia. Beautiful. Huge. Amazing trees. And these aren't anywhere near the biggest. They are closer to the California border. These are in the hills looking over Portland. Still huge amazing trees.

Downtown Portland and Mount Hood

First candidate for shot of the year. Downtown Portland with Mount Hood in the background from Washington Park in the hills above Portland. Yes, its a tourist shot but the locals tell me that Mount Hood often can't be seen in the distance. Beautiful day to go hiking and Michael and I covered a lot of ground taking advantage of chamber of commerce weather.

Fremont Street East

Stayed in downtown Vegas this trip so we got to visit areas that we haven't seen before, like Fremont Street East. A little more sketchy than the main thoroughfare but with some clubs with live bands that were interesting to visit.

Red Rocks means red, really red rocks

Outside of Las Vegas, near the Red Rocks Casino is the Red Rocks National Conservation Area. Been there a few times and enjoy my visit each time I go. I am always amazed at the colors. A wonderful area to visit.

Vegas and Violins?

To sell anything in Vegas you have to add a sex appeal, even when it is free. This is a Freemont Street free concert.

Looks like they are protesting deportation policies.

Texas State Capitol

Spring was in full bloom around the Texas State Capitol building last month when I visited Austin.

Easter means Spring

Not a lot of time for spring flowers to bloom in Chicagoland yet, so I picked a shot from a recent  trip to Scottsdale. With temps in the 90s already, I think spring already came and went in that part of the world. For us, it has been here in dribs and drabs but with temps warming, it feels like spring is on its way. Happy Easter.

Home of the Birdcage

Another shot with an old time feel to it and I could have passed it off as the 60's, if it weren't for the modern SUVs in it. The Carlyle was home of the Birdcage with the late Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.

Miami Beach Closing Shop

Came up on Miami Beach after closing time and got an old time feel and vibe from this shot. One day, I will have to visit when the beach is open for business.
