Gouverneur Kemble Warren and Me

My wife laughed at this picture so it is good enough for inclusion in the Shot of the Day files. That is a statue of Major General Gouverneur Kemble Warren on Little Round Top. The major recognized the danger of the unguarded left flank of the Union position at Gettysburg and brought in reinforcements that saved the day for the north. The Battle of Little Round Top was on the second day of the three day battle, 150 years ago today. The scene I am looking at below was called the Slaughter Pen, named for all the dead rebel soldiers who tried to take the high ground from the north.
