Mount St. Helen's from Lookout Mountain

This must have been some view the day that Mount St. Helen's blew her stack. Amazing to see the top of the mountain totally cut off.

Mount Jefferson and Washington from Lookout Mountain

Just an amazing view as a payoff for a 1.5 mile hike. That's Mount Jefferson in the foreground and Mount Washington further back. Caught some hawks flying around as well. Just beautiful.

Mount Hood close up

After a couple of miles drive along one of the worst roads I have ever driven on and an easy-ish 1.5 mile hike up Lookout Mountain in Oregon, you get this amazing view of Mount Hood. Just beautiful. Totally worth the effort.

Mount Hood Oregon from Lookout Mountain Trail

Did a wonderful 3 mile hike with Cheryl and Michael Jr up to the top of Lookout Mountain to see Mount Hood and a number of other spectacular views of Washington and Oregon Cascade mountain tops. Very cool hike. This shot is on the way to the top and is your first view of Mt Hood on the way up.

Davern Muscle Car

Here is the famous Davern race car, a Buick 350 Apollo. (I think.) Ran well at the Joliet Raceway but didn't come away with the top prize. Still, looks like Joe and the team had lots of fun over race weekend.

1965/1966 Ford Mustang...its where we fell in love....

This was my first car. I had a 1965 Ford Mustang in white with black back seats and red bucket seats in the front. This car is very close so I am guessing it might be the 1966 version? I did not have such a large console in-between the seats but maybe that is an after market add on? I met my wife, Cheryl in that car so I should not have sold it. Great car. Saw it (and lots of other Mustangs) at the auto show at Joliet Auto Speedway where the Davern car was racing last weekend. Gave Cheryl a ride home back in 1974 in that car with my cousin Jim on the way home from swim practice. (She was a swim timer). As we had others sitting in the back seat, she sat on the console. Did a lot of hard right hand turns on the way home so she would fall in my lap. Wow. Broke a lot of laws, come to think of it. But that is the car and that is how we met.

Chicago Pencil Sketch filter

All I had for today's shot of the day was a somewhat boring shot taken on the Dan Ryan of some dramatic skies having over downtown Chicago. The picture sort of looked like a painting to me so I went with a pencil sketch filter and I get a bit of a dreamy view of an afternoon commute.
