Old San Juan is completely surrounded by forts covering all sides of the Island. You can walk the whole thing in about an hour, hitting the three main forts that protect all sides of the city. This is the back side of the island from the main port, facing the sun set to the west, but only a few minutes away on foot from the cruise ships and hotels.

VJ Day and The US Midway
I just took this same shot a few weeks ago (although this time with the US Midway in the background) in Sarasota and here is the same statue in San Diego! Talk about a famous picture. That kiss sure made an impression. If you are not aware, this is taken from a shot in Times Square when the WWII victory over Japan was declared.
I notice that the artist moved her hand so that it wasn't pinching herself on the leg. Also strange. This is listed as one of the top ten war shots ever.

Summer Palace, Beijing
I had posted an uncropped version of this shot way back on November 12, 2010. Some time later, I noticed this tighter crop was an even more interesting shot. I love how the trees still seem to be swaying in the wind. What great memories walking in this park with Stephanie. These are tourist boats at the Summer Palace outside of Beijing. I think this is becoming one of my favorite shots.
