Castle San Cristobal, Old San Juan

Old San Juan is completely surrounded by forts covering all sides of the Island. You can walk the whole thing in about an hour, hitting the three main forts that protect all sides of the city. This is the back side of the island from the main port, facing the sun set to the west, but only a few minutes away on foot from the cruise ships and hotels.

Puerto Rico Passtime

Colorful game of Dominos taken seriously in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I love the board.

VJ Day and The US Midway

I just took this same shot a few weeks ago (although this time with the US Midway in the background) in Sarasota and here is the same statue in San Diego! Talk about a famous picture. That kiss sure made an impression. If you are not aware, this is taken from a shot in Times Square when the WWII victory over Japan was declared.

I notice that the artist moved her hand so that it wasn't pinching herself on the leg. Also strange. This is listed as one of the top ten war shots ever.

Spring is coming

Spring weather is here (early) but in either case openning day is just around the corner. Took a shot overlooking Safeco Field from my hotel in San Diego. Night shots are always fun as they pick up the color of the lights....

Davern's Tavern is Open for Business

Been off line for a bit trying to help get my brother's bar open and off to a good start. Very proud of his effort.

White Ibis Breakfast Bar

Ok, it was a dinner bar, but breakfest bar sounds better. These are White Ibis feeding on the Gulf coast near Naples, Florida. Lots of beautiful beaches near Naples, much of it private or with hotels. Still, you get some beach access points. Lots of wonderful views of the setting sun and wildlife.

Pipe Dream?

I don't know if this sign will ever come true again. But it had lots of color so I shot it. From the American History Museum in Chicago.

Chicago's Front Porch

Walked into Grant Park from the east and caught this nice view of the city during an early morning in June. Interesting view of the city from this vantage point as it is not one that is often shown in pictures. Chicago really does have a nice front porch.

Summer Palace, Beijing

I had posted an uncropped version of this shot way back on November 12, 2010. Some time later, I noticed this tighter crop was an even more interesting shot. I love how the trees still seem to be swaying in the wind. What great memories walking in this park with Stephanie. These are tourist boats at the Summer Palace outside of Beijing. I think this is becoming one of my favorite shots.

Taking a Stroll In Boston

Just a man out for a stroll on a nice summer day in Boston. The new clothes were at the cleaners so he just put on something old....
