The City that Skates when Not Sleeping

This shot is taken from the exact same location as yesterday's wide angle shot and it was taken with the same lens--the Tamron 18-270 attached to my Nikon D7000. This was taken with the maximum telephoto zoom so at the 270mm, but with the D7000 crop factor, it is equivalent to something like 350mm. That little square of light on the bottom of yesterday's picture is shown here. On my computer you can blow this shot up to see people inside the building sitting in their offices above Bryant Park, where this ice rink is located. Amazing. This is one lens to rule them all!!!

The City That Never Sleeps

A foggy night but as the city turns its lights on, the view punches through the fog to provide a nice view from the observation deck at the Empire State Building. The scary thing about the trip to the deck, is the long lines set up for tourists, that would appear to be hours long for the busy summer months.

Carnival in Blue

Carnival Cruise ship using a floating dock in Grand Cayman. I think they are going to turn first.

Splash of Red and Blue

Just a splash of color that I saw on the back of a buddy's t-shirt. This would have fit in either the red or the blue theme.

Edgartown Light House, Martha's Vineyard

Lovely 5am shot of the sun rising in June lighting up the Edgartown Lighthouse.

Signs of New York City

Shot of some signs I saw while walking in New York City. Liked the geometry.

Which Blue Tie?

That question was asked (and hopefully answered) before a wedding I shot last ear. Lucky they didn't ask me. I would have told him to just where the blue one.

Boston Harbor

Shot from boat trip in Boston Harbor. I will be there this week but most likely way to cold to head out for a Harbor trip. In any case, always love to visit Boston, one of my favorite cities.

Hancock Tower from Lake Michign

When ever I see this shot I keep thinking of that ad, "How many bars do you have?". From my old boat on Lake Michigan.

Four Blue Phones

Takes a second, but I am sure you see 4 blue phones, not just three. Happens to be a shot from our cruise to the Grand Cayman's. The colors stood out to me so I took the shot. Now it fits the blue theme.

Relaxing on the Hermosa Beach Pier

The blue theme continues with a shot of the Hermosa Beach Pier. The guy sitting on the pier on the top right had the right idea. I hope he had a good book to read as that is my idea of a relaxing vacation.

Tampa from Cruise Ship Deck

The city of Tampa stands out in the background from the Tampa cruise ship port as one of the Carnival ships moves through the channel to the Gulf. From our summer 2012 to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Ready for my morning swim in the Hudson

Ok, it looks swimable, but no thank you. Looking over the Hudson River into mid-town Manhattan, with the Empire State Building in the distance. .

Trump Tower in Blue

Dreamy view of the Trump Tower in the distance from the back side of the Equitable Building, with the Wrigley Building in the middle. My first job was in the Equitable Building, a wonderful area to see the city.

Paridise Island

Still sticking with the blue (or blueish-green) hues for this shot on Paridise Island resort. Never stayed there but visited briefly during our 2010 trip to Nassau. Hoave to go back some day. Amazing looking place.

Alberquerque San Felipe De Neri

Albuquerque tourist area is headed by this beautiful church, San Felipe De Neri, founded in 1706, but the church looks a lot more modern than that. Actually, it was built in the 1790's. Amazing building.

Chicago North Side Bar in Blue

This is a sign board sitting outside of a bar on the near north side of Chicago. The bar is closed, but the signs are still there and fit nicely into the blue theme. Lots of color always attracts my eye. This shot has it.

Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghi

Got some blue in this nice sunny dayfrom our trip to Shanghi in 2009. We were lucky as it was a rarity to see blue sky in Shanghi with all the air pollution. This picture shows a structure called the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, an excellent way to see the city from on high.

Splash of Red on Martha's Vineyard

Nothing special of a shot but it has some red, fitting the theme. From Cheryl and my 30th anniversary trip to Martha's Vineyard.

Potter Marsh, Anchorage, Alaska

This marsh is just outside of Anchorage, Alaska, where the sky is as big as any that I have seen. This shot is from a 2010 trip taken in the fall. Nice blue themed mountains in the background.

Fountainbleu

Blue sky qualifies the Fountainbleu for our blue theme. Warm weather and pounding music all day long. Like Vegas without the gambling, except in South Beach.

Blue Cleveland

Weird, somewhat disturbing, set of views with the corner of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame building jutting out over a view of Lake Erie with a flag display on the park in the distance.

Welcoming in the New Year

The grandkids seem happy it is a new year. Hopefully, it will be a good one. Like the blue pjs?
