On the Rocks in Richmond
These kayaks were shooting down the rapids on the James River and one found himself briefly on the rocks. I was scared for a moment, but he came right off and headed down river. Looks like fun.

A New York State of Mind
Great view of the still under-construction Freedom Tower from Brooklyn. Wonderful view of lower Manhattan on a beautiful fall evening. Didn't have a tripod so used the railing to keep the camera as steady as I could.

Bryant Park Skyline--NYC
New Yorkers sure know how to use their limited and crowded space. Bryant Park near the heart of mid-town Manhattan at 40th and 6th Avenue is one example. Great spot to take in the sights, people watch, ice skate in the winter and shop and eat--all in a single square block with trees and a little green space. One of my favorite resting spots. This shot is just sitting on a chair and looking up.

Same Model 3 Times- New York
What do you do in New York when work stops at 3? Join a photography class at B&H photo. An award winning photographer, Jerry Ghionis, from Melbourne, one of the world's top wedding photographers was having a free lighting seminar and I got to join in. I don't like shooting models that someone else hired and posed. How would that count as my shot? So, I shot over the shoulder of another classmate and got three shots of the model. (Did you see the third version of her in his glasses?) Fun day.

Ladies, look here please....Fashion District NYC
Staying near the fashion district in New York gives lots of opportunities for portraits. Tough to get the models to look your way, however.

Fashion Magazine Shoot, New York
Ok, it is a "fashion magazine shot" as all of those magazines were fashion magazines from around the world. Quite amazing that a store can specialize to such a degree. I saw the colors and shot the shot.

Rocks on the James
One fellow found himself on the rocks but quickly made it off with no difficulty. Nice of hem to where red and blue to fit this blogs theme.

Jumping into the James
The James River runs right through Richmond, Virginia. Caught these kids enjoying one of the late days of summer.

Peaks of Otter, Bedford Virginia
Sometime that damn GPS takes you in the strangest directions. I had to get from Lynchburg, Virginia to the airport in Roanoke, a path that I had taken three of four times as a passenger, so I knew there was a state highway. For some reason, the GPS takes me around what the locals call the "Peaks of Otter" on one of the narrowest and most twisted roads that I have ever driven. I kept seeing signs that said, "Only one Car over the Narrow Bridge at a Time". Still, the great luck is that I got to see the Peaks of Otter, which are beautiful part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Now, I want to go back and do that drive again on purpose. Such fun.

Color is here!
Falls colors are peaking. Lots of yellows. More reds probably coming. If you look very, very closely, there is actually a girl in a tree in the center of the shot. I had to laugh, since I didn't know it when I took the picture.

Red Coming in Fall
Getting close to peak colors in Illinois. From the wonderful Morton Arboretum in Lisle on a rainy overcast Sunday.

Dolphin in Flight
This is one of my favorite shots from this summer and I had to wait to post it until I was done with my red theme. Shot from the deck of a Carnival Cruise ship on the way to Cozumel, Mexico. I only saw the dolphins this one time and was fast enough to grab a camera before they disappeared.

San Francisco Skyline
I was getting tired of the red theme and I just had to post this shot after playing around with some filters. This is a solarized filter on a shot of the San Francisco skyline that I had originally posted in a more black and white verison of this shot back in March 2012 but this shot just jumped out at me. Fun to have such power in the software to make a decent shot so much better.

Red Lantern in Boston
This shot is in the category of making a shot. I took a blurry shot in a too dark restaurant on Cheryl's and my 30 wedding anniversary. I didn't delete it but played around with it enough to slightly sharpen, add some filters, reduce some grain and generally messed with it more than it was worth. So, here you go with a red filter glow to match the red theme....

For sale New York City
Fun trying to find good shots worth posting on a (almost) daily blog. Still looking for shots that I have taken with some red in it, just for fun. Will go out this weekend looking for fall colors. Should be lots of reds and other colors. I saw this shot last time in NYC.

Red Lobster New York City
Nothing says dinner like a huge Red Lobster hanging overhead in Times Square, New York City. Have to have a Red Lobster sign if you are shooting red themed pictures....

Red Lienenkugel's Chippewa Falls, Wis
WHe the kids are young, you take them to Disney World. When they are older, they take you to Chippewa Falls to visit the Leinekugel's brewery. You still have to pay for the gas and food, however, From a 2009 trip.

Millennium Park Concert Chairs in Red
Amazing what you can do with software and selective focus. Didn't know when I took this shot that I would be looking for red and since it was a bit of a boring shot, I thought I would play with the focus. Love this new toy that I found.....

Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign
Lots signs and lots of Red so why not post in the Red Collection? Don't remember exactly where this was taken but somewhere on the near north side during one of my photography seminars.

No, Pull the Red Handle--Chicago Theater
Backstage at the Chicago Theater tour was this incredible line up of handles to control various curtains. Quite the set up and fits the red theme.
