I don't like shooting models with professional models and perfect lighting and makeup, when I didn't hire the models, didn't bring or set up the lights and didn't direct the posing. So, I look for different angles to tell the story.

Night Out in Ybor City

Great blues bar in Ybor City outside of downtown Tampa, called The Blues Ship Cafe. Hit the town with cousin Anthony and ended up here late at night enjoying the blues. Ybor is a wild scene to say the least. A shame most of the clueless youngsters we saw were standing in lines at dance clubs when real music was playing live right down the block. Looking forward to visiting again some day.

Treasure Island or New Planet?

Two earth sized planets were discovered this week in the habitable zone with a small orange sun. Well, we had one of those setting in Treasure Island. Maybe there is a similar sunset on one of those planets?



Scottsdale Cowboy

When I thought of doing this blog, I thought I would do lots of these "kitchy" shots of Americana from around the country. Turns out I don't shoot these types of shots much, but every once in awhile, one catches my eye. This cowboy looks ready to defend this store to the death.

God Light in Clearwater

I don't know if these rays are called "God light" as the rays extend horizontally, not towards the ground. However, I liked the effect, whatever it is called. So, here is a sunset shot without the sun having actually set.

Duquesne Club Pittsburg

This is an inside shot of one of those old line gentleman's clubs that are slowly disappearing across the country. Wonderful room. Back in the day there were probably a bunch of old Pittsburg movers and shakers sipping their martinis and smoking stoggies.

I am seeking Spring all over the United States. Caught a few nice moments with a brief walk on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. The scene was cold and rainy, just a few hours before. I can confirm, that occasionally, sun and warm weather does break out.

Charlotte: Evidence of Spring

Hard to find much evidence of spring in Chicago so I traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to see it is true that spring is on its way. The Cherry Blossoms were out, almost in full bloom. So, I can report, that spring is still coming.

Outside PNC Park, Pittsburg

It's dark. It's cold. I'm swimming. Ok, that part is not true. I am standing on Roberto Clemente Bridge across from PNC Park and I can hear "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" so I know it is the 7th inning. Too late and cold to visit the park, but next time in Pittsburg...the topper was that I learned later that the Cubs lost!!!

Camelback in the clouds

Camelback Mountain is easily visible (except when there are clouds) from downtown Scottsdale, providing a nice backdrop to the housing, retail and business areas. Looks like a future visit has to include getting to the top for a view of the city below.

Rocky Mountain Foothills
