The Davern's Tavern sponsored car took on its competition yesterday and qualified for the finals today at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet. Good luck to Bill, the driver, my brother Joe and crew!!!

Team HEAD Christmas in July
This isn't a photography post or a travel post but for me, it is a fun post. Every year for the past 20 years or so, I get a great big box in late July from Team HEAD. Its like Christmas in July. As a sponsored player, I get clothes, racquets, bags and warm up gear and I get to support the sport as a representative of an excellent company. Hey, its not how good you play but how good you look while you play!!! Every year, the day the box comes in, I run out to the club to wear the new colors and play with the new racquets. Did that today. Love the new racquet. My new racquet is a HEAD Extreme 165. Hits with a big sweet spot and with lots of power. Love it. I just warmed up with it so no games today so I am still undefeated with the new racquet. Always like to keep that going for as long as possible.

City of Big Shoulders
The old Sears Tower (can't stand the new name so I will use the old) looks to me like it does have Big Shoulders, a nickname for the city itself. The parkway across the street gives a rare bit of green to shoot through from the downtown area.

Little Man in Silhouette
Still finding shots from a recent trip to the Faces display in downtown Chicago. The little guy gave me a pose and I took it.

Colorado Rockies Pole-to-Pole
Another pole-to-pole shot from the Colorado Rockies vs White Sox game of a couple of weeks ago. I might have been slow to post this as I was still recovering from the beating that they took. However, since they took some many beatings since then, it really doesn't matter. Still, another ballpark in the pole-to-pole series in the bag!!!

Chicago Colors
Buildings of every shape, size and color dominate the skyline in the south loop of downtown Chicago. Wonderful mix of ages and building types. Looking north from Congress down Plymouth Court.

Life Finds A Way
Maybe a bit hard to see in this shot but it was amazing to see a full grown tree growing right out of a pile of rocks. You would not think it would be possible, especially with the size of that tree, but there it is. From the Garden of the Gods.

Placid Pool Sunset
A calm evening in Kearney, Nebraska at a local RV park got us a wonderful reflected sunset off of the swimming pond. Hard to beat Mother Nature for entertainment when traveling.

Mule Deer
Yes, we were surprised to see you too. On a hike with my cousin Anthony in the Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs last weekend, we surprised a mule deer and were surprised ourselves to see the deer near a hiking path on an early morning walk. This deer was only 20 yards away or so and took our presence in stride. After a few minutes of staring at each other, we both went on our way. I was so jacked to get a nice shot with the deer perfectly backlit by the sun. Can't get any better than that.

Garden of the Gods Balance Rock
You would think that this rock couldn't stay this way for more than a few weeks, but it has been balancing on this point for hundreds of thousand of years. At Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Drive carefully!!!

Old Marshall Field's Ceiling
Great colors and design of the ceiling of the old Marshall Field's building (now Macy's) on State Street.

Happy 4th of July
Too much?
Apparently, no. Someone asked me to fill in the gap on the right side. It is a little out of balance. So, here is a second shot at it.

Chicago River Lake Street Bridge
View of the bridge over the Chicago River on Lake Street from one of the new buildings surrounding the curve of the river near by building (the Nuveen building, in green). All the buildings are about to fall in the river as I am using a wide angle lens. It violates photography rules, but I like the view.
