Strong Colors: Golden Hour
This is why they call it Golden Hour. The last hour before the sun sets the light travels through more and more atmosphere to get to your location. The light bends and as it does, it shifts to the warmer spectrum. Some location as yesterday's Shot of the Day, just about an hour earlier. Naples, Beach 2012.

Strong Colors: Squashed Sun and Pelican
Another colorful sunset in Naples the same evening as yesterday's Shot of the Day caught this "squashed" sun setting with a pelican flying through. I like the unbalance nature of this crop for some reason. Usually, I would put the subject in the center but something drew me to the offset nature of this shot.

Strong Colors: Soon
Spring on the calendar but not yet in the skies or on the ground. Soon. But not yet. At least in Chicago. Does waiting for spring weather, make spring weather better?

Stephanie, Anthony and the kids
I can't believe I got everyone to sit and look at the camera for a quick family picture. Love this one.

Just a little bit early
Apparently, the Grackle's come with their army. We had three trees filled with Grackle's.

Strong Colors: New York Flower District
New York is a place of noise, colors, smells (some of them not so good!), shapes and sizes. On my last several trips to the city, I had been staying in the flower district, where all the flower shops get their supplies. Makes for an interesting walk on the sidewalk, but gives lots of colors to see as you go by. This shot is from a trip back in October 2019.

Strong Colors: Navy Pier Carnival Swing
A 6 am summer morning Chicago walk-a-round brought out the colors in the "blue" hour, the time in the day when the sun is just rising or setting. During that time you can get strong colors in the sky and warm shadows on the ground. This shot brings them both. From a 2008 early June summer morning.
