Four Common Friends

Took a morning walk in the prairie a few weeks ago and saw these four very common visitors. They are around if you look for them. Of course, you can't miss the American Robin. They are everywhere. But the American Goldfinch is an easy prairie bird to see and with a little effort, you can find a Grey Catbird and the little Song Sparrow. You will probably hear the Catbird first. Some of its calls do sound very "cat-like". The Song Sparrow looks a lot like the much more common American House Sparrow (with the black bib for the male) but it has a brown cap that distinguishes it from other sparrows. Anyway, get out and enjoy a walk and see what you can find.
