I stayed at a part bed-and-breakfast, part art gallery called the Gallery Inn in Old San Juan. The place was incredibly decorated with sculptures done by the owner, Jan D'Esopo in a 600 year old series of buildings connected by stairways going up and down in all kinds of directions. The antiques and heirloom artifacts were sometimes freaky, sometimes wonderful in this strange hotel. My bathroom was down the hall from my room and no TVs. A definite change from the Marriott's I usually frequent.
